The popular Conquer the World (CTW) Campaign returns in Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends with exciting updates. The new CTW Campaign guides players through a new world of heroes, monsters, loyalty and betrayal. Gamers follow a story through multiple campaigns with fascinating subplots and heroic characters. The campaigns immerse players in an ever-changing three-dimensional world with terrain and cities that evolve as civilizations grow.Prompts.Is the gameplay fun?.Are the different races fun to play?.Does the game hold up?It's not Starcraft!Non selected games that released May 9 (for fans of hitting drums and building on the 360): Donkey Konga 2, Minecraft 360 Edition, Headhunter. I always felt this game was overshadowed by the success and longevity of Rise of Nations.

I far preferred the former, but Rise of Legends still had its charm. For anyone that I've ever spoken to, it seems everynone only had fond memories of the Vinci; the steampunk, human faction of the game. They really nailed down the aesthetics, from the to the styles of the. The other factions were a little less memorable.I remember the city system and trade system fondly.
It doesn't really hold up in terms of mechanical depth IMO, but it has that comfy feel of an early 2000s RTS. Build up large, lovely cities and unleash hell after an hour of unnecessary building. The unit diversity was really great, and it seemed I never had trouble distinguishing one unit from another. Each unit had character, you know?Like most RTS games from that era, I would kill for a sequel. Vinci were the highlight race because steampunk was probably entering its legit heyday at the time, as opposed to know where it's just something con-goers pretend to aspire to by putting clocks on everything. But at the time there was nothing really like them.Cuotl were similarly unique, featuring very slick sci fi / mayan merge that worked so well that I'm surprised it never came up before.The.other guys were a fantasy race with arabian nights as the theme.
Cool to look at, neat overall but we've seen fantasy before. That's my take anyway.I don't think it was overshadowed by RoN, so much that the RoN fans took to the streets and rioted because they didn't get RoN 2. Spoke to a ton of people then and after, the bitterness just slid right into thinking the game wasn't very good, which was patently not true. Tragedy surrounds RoL.
RoN fans treated the game as the TA Kingdoms of the franchise. The gameplay was somewhat streamlined, so it's certainly not what they were looking to play, but that sort of attached a stigma to RoL, despite it being a decent to good RTS. Well, it bombed. There are probably many reasons for that, but either way this caused the cancellations of RoL's expansion and. Speaking of that expansion, it was supposed to bring a 4th race in either the Finnish/Slavic/Norse mythology inspired or the Mongol-inspired.

The story ends on a cliffhanger. It's a barebones story that exists only to somehow tie together the three factions in the campaign, but I still would've liked to see it concluded in an expansion.
SkyBox and Microsoft are ignoring the game.I don't remember much about the gameplay (I did have fun though), but what really impressed me at the time was the combination of factions BHG managed to put in one RTS. The clock punky Vinci, the Arabian Nights-inspired Alin and the Goa'uld Cuotl - seriously what's not to love?

I think similar races hadn't even been featured in an RTS before.I also remember people liking the interface and shortcuts back then, because they were somehow innovative? The shortcuts being laid out the way they were was certainly intuitive though. Skybox Labs, the guys responsible for all the old MS RTS titles being re-released on steam, have an unnamed mystery game in development on their. It's been like that for more than a year (two years?) and I hope so bad that it's Rise of Legends: HD / Extended or whatever.RoL's gameplay was great. Three vibrant, distinct and unique factions that to this day haven't been copied or done better, each play differently from each other, with gameplay that to me is a great overhaul of RoN's, like they reduced the complexity but increased the breadth. The game holds up graphically, but it's hard to play due to the multiplayer being down / dead or whatever and the auto-update patcher obviously doesn't work. Please give us RoL Extended!.
